Praise for And Justice for All!

Today I’m feeling on top of the world, thanks to a review of my novel, And Justice for All. Every writer second guesses themselves and I’m no exception. Hearing that your book gave someone a satisfying reading experience is not only a gift but it’s a blessing. It’s what makes you want to keep writing.

Book Review. ‘ And Justice For All’ Second chance love police drama. Susanne Matthews pub Amazon, 21 July 2025,

Disclaimer. I rarely read or watch modern police dramas. Simple reason, as Eliot said, human kind cannot bear too much reality. On TV, police action is the news, every day, live, in huge numbers, over a thousand on duty in London last Saturday, and five hundred more enlisted from other rparts of the UK. Several officers were attacked and injured. I read more crime fiction than any other genre, but prefer historical crime, from ancient Rome to WWII. More escapist ? Obviously, so what grabbed me this time ? Was it second chance love , in any context, or the core police drama? Both, definitely, and so compelling, I read this cover to cover, in a day, intrigued by that eight year gap in the relationship between Maggie Sutton and Harry Collins. ‘What might not eight years do ? ‘To Harry, Maggie’s ‘every bit as beautiful and desirable, to Captain Wentworth, after that earlier eight year gap, Anne Elliot’s ‘ so altered he should not have known her, or, once he’s in love again, to my eye you could never alter And Justice For All passes the second chance Persuasion test with honours. As a police drama ? Returning to work after her colleague was shot dead, and suffering life changing injuries herself, from lethal Chinese steel bullets, Maggie’s seconded to the RCMP. * Police officers are being killed. Why ? Drugs, guns and illegal immigrants coming into Canada from the U.S are at an all-time high. No spoilers , just a very brief extract :

‘The lack of a balcony had been a selling point. There was only one way into the apartment and she had that door well fortified.’

Why did that sentence leap at me ? Because it reveals so much. Survivor, for now, Maggie’s given up her house in the country for a fortified box. Would this be the end of her life as detective sergeant ? Would there ever be justice for all? I was eager to read on, learn so much more, about Maggie and twenty first century policing. Five stars, on both counts, romance and meticulously researched police procedure , including drugs far beyond mere Class A .

Hi! I live in Eastern Ontario. I'm married with three adult children and five wonderful grandchildren. I prefer warm weather, and sunshine but winter gives me time to write. If I’m listening to music, it will be something from the 1960s or 1970s. I enjoy action movies, romantic comedies, but I draw the line at slasher flicks and horror. I love science fiction and fantasy as well. I love to read; I immerse myself in the text and, as my husband says, the house could fall down around me, and I’d never notice. My preferences are as varied as there are genres, but nothing really beats a good romance, especially one that is filled with suspense. I love historical romance too, and have read quite a few of those. If I’m watching television, you can count on it being a suspense — I’m not a fan of reality TV, sit-coms, or game shows. Writing gives me the most pleasure. I love creating characters that become real and undergo all kinds of adventures. It never ceases to amaze me how each character can take on its own unique personality; sometimes, they grow very different from the way I pictured them! Inspiration comes from all around me; imagination has no bounds. If I can think it, imagine it, I can write it!
