Last year, I started a new series of romantic comedy books based on different cocktails. I haven’t written them in alphabetical order, but this month, I’ve decided to pick my favorites from A to Z and possibly write books around them. There are a lot of cocktails that start with the letter A, but I’ve chosen Angel’s Delight. Somehow that strikes me as having a lot of potential for a book title, too.

Welcome to my first post in 2021’s A to Z Blog Challenge. As I stated in my theme reveal, I’ll be blogging about cocktails, specifically those i plan to use in my new Cocktails for You series. Today we start with the letter A.

The Angel’s Delight is classified as a dessert cocktail, that means it’s sweet and best taken in small quantities. This pretty pink drink will appeal to those who like their drinks sweet. It’s ideal served after dinner. It’s a gin cocktail which includes orange liqueur and cream. It gets its lovely color from the few drops of grenadine that add to its sugary taste and the cream that gives it a milky tone.
Personal assessment:
It’s quite good, but I wouldn’t want to drink more than two–at a time that is. I can see a terrific story teasing at the back of my mind though. Looking at it, it reminds me of strawberry pudding. I can work with that!

Here’s how to make your own:
Ingredients
- 3/4 ounce gin
- 3/4 ounce orange liqueur (Triple Sec, Cointreau, Grand Marnier)
- 1 oz. cream
- 2 to 3 dashes of grenadine
While it’s not a typical gin cocktail, the liquors work well together giving it a creamy, fruity taste. A word of caution. Don’t overdo the cream.
Method
In a cocktail shaker filled with ice cubes, pour the gin, triple sec, cream, and grenadine.
Shake well. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Serve and enjoy!
See you tomorrow for Cocktail Number 2!
