Insecure Writer’s Support Group Blog for April

This is today’s second post. If you are looking for the A to Z Challenge blog, scroll down.

Welcome to the April 2025 IWSG blog. I want to begin by apologizing to everyone for violating the rules of posts lasts month. It will not happen again.

April 2 question – What fantasy character would you like to fight, go on a quest with, or have a beer/glass of wine with?

Fantasy characters in general are a little tricky for me, but if I have to pick one, then it’ll be Wonder Woman. She has everything I could want in a hero. She fights not for personal gain but for truth and justice. She is tough, yet compassionate. In a pantheon of fantasy warriors, she exhibits a sense of honor that I truly admire. I would have loved to get my hands on her lasso of truth when my kids were teenagers. They were prone to lying about where they were going and what they were doing–perfectly normal rite of passage, but it would’ve spared me some worries.

Have a look at what others think of this today. https://www.insecurewriterssupportgroup.com/p/iwsg-sign-up.html

I will miss the May post since I will be recovering from my hip replacement surgery, but I will be back in June!

Hi! I live in Eastern Ontario. I'm married with three adult children and five wonderful grandchildren. I prefer warm weather, and sunshine but winter gives me time to write. If I’m listening to music, it will be something from the 1960s or 1970s. I enjoy action movies, romantic comedies, but I draw the line at slasher flicks and horror. I love science fiction and fantasy as well. I love to read; I immerse myself in the text and, as my husband says, the house could fall down around me, and I’d never notice. My preferences are as varied as there are genres, but nothing really beats a good romance, especially one that is filled with suspense. I love historical romance too, and have read quite a few of those. If I’m watching television, you can count on it being a suspense — I’m not a fan of reality TV, sit-coms, or game shows. Writing gives me the most pleasure. I love creating characters that become real and undergo all kinds of adventures. It never ceases to amaze me how each character can take on its own unique personality; sometimes, they grow very different from the way I pictured them! Inspiration comes from all around me; imagination has no bounds. If I can think it, imagine it, I can write it!

  1. Hope the surgery goes well. As a teen. my technique was slightly different.- Not lies, I’d be useless. Wait till the responsible adult is completely absorbed in a book, possibly in another universe – a reliably regular situation. Then make request. Witness recommended.
