Day 13 of the 2026 A to Z Challenge Blog for the letter M

Good morning. It’s another rainy day here, but as I got home from the orthopedic surgeon yesterday, I noticed buds on my spring flowers. The matched my mood since I’m good for another year–exercise and physio should be good enough to keep leg number two out of surgery for at least another twelve months. Today’s Wednesday. Some refer to it as midweek. Others call it hump day, as in getting over the hump. No matter what you call it, it’s also the midway mark in this year’s challenge. I used to say that the first half of the challenge was easier than the second half and I’m sure that’ll be the case again this year since my store of memes with the difficult letters is quite low.

The thirteenth letter of the alphabet is M. I took the liberty of highlighting all the M words in my introductory paragraph. There are lots of good M words. The first one that comes to mind is motherhood. Without mothers where would we be? Nowhere. We wouldn’t exist. It’s strange for me to try and understand misogyny, the hatred of the female gender, when without women, the human race wouldn’t exist. But enough about that. Today I’m going to talk about medicine, not the pills, liquid, injections, and creams prescribed by doctors but the other kind of medicine needed to keep your mind and soul healthy. Enjoy!

Hi! I live in Eastern Ontario. I'm married with three adult children and five wonderful grandchildren. I prefer warm weather, and sunshine but winter gives me time to write. If I’m listening to music, it will be something from the 1960s or 1970s. I enjoy action movies, romantic comedies, but I draw the line at slasher flicks and horror. I love science fiction and fantasy as well. I love to read; I immerse myself in the text and, as my husband says, the house could fall down around me, and I’d never notice. My preferences are as varied as there are genres, but nothing really beats a good romance, especially one that is filled with suspense. I love historical romance too, and have read quite a few of those. If I’m watching television, you can count on it being a suspense — I’m not a fan of reality TV, sit-coms, or game shows. Writing gives me the most pleasure. I love creating characters that become real and undergo all kinds of adventures. It never ceases to amaze me how each character can take on its own unique personality; sometimes, they grow very different from the way I pictured them! Inspiration comes from all around me; imagination has no bounds. If I can think it, imagine it, I can write it!

  1. I love the one of the older lady who uses my method of multitasking lol. I try to have at least a few posts already done and scheduled to post so that I’m not having to rush doing a post at the end of the day.
